If you die, its not going to matter that you saved $100 or $200 is it?
Take my advice and see if SwissAir flies to Russia from Canada.

My wife is Russian and flies from the US to Russia on Aeroflot all the
time. While the service isn't up to western standards, I believe they
are (about) as safe as anyone.

i googled "aeroflot safety record" to quickly refute jh963's claim,
and after looking thru the top 3 or 4 results, lo and behold, it
appears he is correct. for international flights, aeroflot is
basically as safe as any other.

the problem, evidently, is they use ancient russian-built planes for
domestic flights, and those are what crash all the time. the boeing
and airbus planes they use for transoceanic flights haven't had a
fatal crash since 1995.

i stand corrected.

the google results do echo his comments about service, tho. i'd read
them before making reservations.
