We are regularaly required to provide clients with reports/letters in both PDF and hardcopy format. We have a decent colour laser printer but due to presentation issues we still prefer to print to professional letter head paper. The question is how can i set up one document to print to both pdf (with electronic letterhead/footers) and hardcopy (without headers or footers). We currently manage this by either printing to hardcopy and then scanning it to pdf or creating a document with the electronic headers, copying it and then deleting headers for the hard copy version. Obviously i am looking for a better solution than this. |

pkgnorm, To solve your requirements, you can a PDF tool which installs itself as a "printer" on your system. Once installed, you simply print to the PDF printer to create a PDF file. You will also need a tool with the ability to apply "stationery" you create to the PDF document. I recommend the PDF995 Suite. Their PDF printer is seamless. The PDFEdit tool allows you to apply stationery (letterhead) to all your PDFs, or only to the last PDF you printed. PDFEdit also allows you to set a number of other handy options, such a default save directory and automatically using the name of the Word doc as the PDF name. You can use PDF995 and PDFEdit for free if you are willing to put up with being taken to an ad page afer each print. If not, $19.95 will get you a registration key for both tools. You can find/download/purchase PDF995 at the PDF995 website. http://www.pdf995.com/ I have been very happy with these tools for years.I'm sure they will meet your needs as well. - Hammer Search Strategy ---------------- pdf printer stationery |

PDFill PDF tools includes a free tool set which includes the option to add headers and footers to PDF files. The base PDFill (a relatively inexpensive program) allows you to "print" documents as PDF files. Combine the two and you should solve your problem. PDFill is available at http://www.pdfill.com/ |
