I am trying to find the title of a book I read as a child. It was a bedtime story kind of a book, in which the author describes the house at night-time. I recall one illustration that showed a close-up of many crayons lying on the floor, and they were described as broken crayons and new crayons that were waiting to be used the next day by the child. The book seemed to speak directly to the reader as if it were the reader's own house. The most important part (to me) was a page that showed a policeman patroling the neighborhood on foot. He is described as being either tall or strong, "just like your Dad" or something like that. My Dad was a cop when I was young, and I thought the book was really written for me. This is the 10th year since my Dad was killed in the line of duty, and I'd like to find this book and give it to my mom for Christmas. Any help with the title and/or author would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! | |
