I am looking for a DVD (movies) professional database for being used
in a e-commerce website in France in order for the visitor to be able
to find a movie just by entering the BAR CODE or the title of the DVD.
The database should minimally include the movie title, DVD cover photo,
director, actor, film summary, languages available, etc.

The database has to be IN FRENCH at least and preferably both in
English and French and must include international movies (from France,
Europe, Bollywood, Holywood, TV serials...)
What companies are renting these kinds of databases? Are they any free
providers? For information, the database provided by IMDB is not
adequate (no real French translation).

There is no answer at this time.

You could perhaps enter a partnership with They have a
French website (go to, and go to the very bottom
of the page. You have the ability to enter an ISBN/ASIN (for movies)
into the search box and it pulls up the info in French and for the
French product. For example, I found the ASIN for Sex and the City
and put the number into the French search box and this was
the result:

In addition to (as referred to in both previous comments) I
would like to mention

e.g. the entry for Hitchcock's "North by Northwest":
