CONTEXT: Teachers in Middle Schools and High Schools periodically have
to record and transmit grades, comments, and other data on a
per-student basis to some central database within their school or
school district. In response to this, many different recording and
record-keeping software programs have been created.

MORE CONTEXT: My company is creating a series of curriculum modules
and we want to be able to allow teachers to export the data they want,
in the format they want, for easy importing into whatever system their
school operates to record grades, comments, etc.

MY QUESTION (there may be follow-ups):

Report on the methods used by MS and HS teachers in the US to enter
grades and related data. Provide answers in essay form (to provide
insight into the issue) and in tabular form by method of entry. If possible,
break down by MS and HS. Create additional breakdowns as needed, such
as "by hand on paper", "by hand into computer", "import data generated
by third-party courseware" etc. Give approximate percentages for each
method of entry in the table or list. Give sources used for your info.
