Hi, I need dictionaries of common english words, preferably either
ordered in the order of probability or including the probability (value) of
occurrance.
It would be a bonus if words are seperated into dictionaries for each
possible word length (eg dictionary of english words of length 3 in
order of probability) but not totally necessary as I could compute
that myself given a list of common words if I am be given the
probability values for all words (or a list ordered by probability).
The lists should be sufficiently large and have been collected from a
representative set of modern enlglish documents to be useful. I would
be happing with a link to download these.
I would expect roughly 5000 - 10,000 words in the list or group of lists.

Just to be clear, are you looking for a simple word list of the most
common words with frequency information, or do you want an actual
dictionary, that includes definitions.

The first is probably available, the second...I rather doubt it.

frequency of use drawn from the Brown Corpus. It also includes a
dictionary if you click on the word.
