We are considering producing a web-based software program for
configuring and pricing web design and appplication development
projects. Target market is midmarket enterprises ($2M-$500M) across
industries for $5k-$500k web projects. In order to do this correctly,
we need to establish a detailed taxonomy and costing of all of the
potential uses of the internet for business, along with features.
Examples of "business uses" include: information delivery, employee
relations, community building, product sales, lead generation,
investor relations, brand building, and so forth. Examples of
"features" include: online group calendar, employee benefit
administration tools, dynamic FAQ, online polls. We want to leverage
any and all existing research into both "business uses" and
"features", and your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to find
that existing material.
Please break your response into these three parts:
1) Have online web project configurators/estimators been created
before? If so, please reference sites.
2) Where can we find specific articles, white papers, theses,
research reports, or other material which would address this topic
comprehensively? Not just for an industry, but for business use of
the internet in general. If you list a resource location like a
compendium web site, please also list the specific relevant articles
please.
3) Where can we find web project average costing information? E.g.
resources that include cost breakdowns by feature for web projects. |
