I searched the WWW for MSWord->PDF converters (see REQUIREMENTS below) and found several programs which did not match my quality requirements (see QUALITY). Instead of continuing the search and test many programs myself, I turn to you to help me. REQUIREMENTS: * MSWord => PDF converter * runs on Linux (not Windows) * command line program (no GUI) * free software (e.g. GPL/BSD license) * quality: simple documents with included images and some visual effects are rendered correctly and look similar to the original. QUALITY: The last point is important: I found many programs that are excellent for *reading* the contents of a MSWord document (where the precise redering of visual effects can be ignored). I need a program that usually renders the page similar to MSWord. It's ok if some features (such as Word macros) are not supported. I am looking for a list of programs *ranked by quality*: More precise rendering at the top. I am not interested in a long list of programs that I have to test all by myself. BONUS: If the first or second program in your list renders satisfactorily on three sample files, I will pay a bonus of 20$. |
