We are looking to figure out how many virtual choices there are in our
about to be introduced Design Your Own Themed Slippers.  In other
words if we wanted to make 1 of every choice- how many would this be?

There are 55 styles, 27 colors, 4 colorable section, 8 sizes and 4 bottoms

First of all, I would like to tell you that I think this is an
excellent idea for slippers!

Now to the math. According to my calculations there are a total of
612,574,326 possibilities to choose from.


The explanation:

Styles - I noted 53 (not 55)

Soles - 4

Sizes - Here's the tricky part. I noticed 3 soles have 6 different
sizes. And 1 sole (Walkers) has 8 sizes.

Colorable sections - 
Upper - 27 colors
Collar - 27 colors
Bottom - 27 colors
Applique - 27 colors

Another *trickier* part. I began randomly selecting different styles
and found some styles only had 3 colorable sections of 27 colors.
There are no Applique color choices. I then went through each style
and found 9 such cases.

These 9 styles are:
Dove, Bumblebee, Lizard, Dragon, TRex, Blowfish, Dolphin, Frisky
Feline and Gridiron.

The calculations:

Since 9 styles have 3 colorable sections and 44 styles have 4
colorable choices (making a total of 53 styles) and 3 soles have 6
sizes and 1 sole has 8 sizes, there are four different calculations
that need to be totalled.

44(styles) x 3(soles) x 6(sizes) x 27(upper colors) x 27 (collar
colors) x 27 (bottom colors) x 27 (applique colors) = 420,901,272

44(styles) x 1(sole) x 8(sizes) x 27(upper colors) x 27 (collar
colors) x 27 (bottom colors) x 27 (applique colors) = 187,067,232

9(styles) x 3(soles) x 6(sizes) x 27(upper colors) x 27 (collar
colors) x 27 (bottom colors) = 3,188,646

9(styles) x 1(sole) x 8(sizes) x 27(upper colors) x 27 (collar colors)
x 27 (bottom colors) = 1,417,176


Total choices: 420,901,272 + 187,067,232 + 3,188,646 + 1,417,176 = 612,574,326



Just for sake of argument, had the numbers of styles and sizes been as
you provided, the total number of possibilities would be 935,336,160.

The math is correct. The method is correct. I found there were 3 soles
with 6 sizes and 1 sole with 8 sizes. And since I went through each
style to verify whether the color categories were 3 or 4, I don't
believe there is any other way to prove this is correct without
manually going through each possibility. :-)
