Hi all,
I urgently need to improve my resume. Several interviewers commented
that my resume may need a complete rewriting. I am seeking a summer
internship, so I don't have headhunters to help me. On a side note, if
you know some headhunters would like to help summer intern seeking, I
will be very happy to seek their advice and help. My field is
investment banking, quantitative finance, hedgefund, etc.
I searched and googled a lot, there are so many resume
editing/rewriting services available, e.g. Vault, ResumeEdge, etc.
Facing so many choices, I don't know which one will provide the best
resume service to me. I read their sample resumes, but within limited
time, I could not finish searching and reading all these stuff and
make a wise decision. Does anybody know a ranking list, or some
reputation list, or comparison of services?
In addition to the resumes, I also need to improve my interview skills
in the following areas:
(1) General behavior questions;
(2) C++ and general programming;
(3) brainteasers;
(4) Math, numerics, statistics;
(5) General finance, derivatives;
My questions are: what are the best interview, mock interview,
interview critique services and where are they? And where are the best
books, online resources for preparing these areas? I have googled and
searched a lot, the problem is again there is so much information, so
I ended up swamping in those just-so-so resources, and if I continue
like that, within limited time, I guess I may miss the best gems that
are embedded somewhere on this planet. Could you please help me?
Thanks a lot and have a great weekend! |

One more note about the interview preparation:
I did not know before that the interview will be so stressful. The
interviews were essentially torturing me with brainteasers. I never
thought I should have spent time preparing for the brainteasers(I am
busy with my schooling and research stuff), preparing for the
brainteasers is really a waste of time.
But since I didn't prepare, and my brain was not in a brain-teaser
mode. When facing brainteasers, my brain was a little bit lack of oil,
and then they look down on you, they discourage you, they don't give
hint, they keep mute, looking at you strangely, and sometimes exclaim:
"what? you cannot even answer this simple question?", etc. They made
me very sweaty and uncomfortable and uneasy.
So my question is: is there a way I can train myself to go through
these stressful interviews? I guess I need good resources and good
trainings ... Otherwise I won't be able to find a job...

Another question I have is: what do you do to keep up your energy
level? Suppose you have an all-day interview, you are very tired in
the middle, you didn't have enough sleep because you had other
homeworks and other deadlines due these days... if you know some good
approaches to keep up energy level during stressful moments, please
give me some tips, tricks, caveats, etc.... if it worth another
separate thread, please let me know, I will be more than happy to open
another question thread so we can all share our experiences and
ideas...
thanks a lot!
