Thanks very much for acknowledging my response as a suitable
answer. I'll repost it here for the sake of future readers,
and to finalize the question.

You might want to consider another option, which I'll share
from personal experience.
The Edgar Cayce Apple Fast
Eat nothing but raw apples for 3 days, supplemented by
extra-virgin olive oil - either a tablespoon 3x/day, or
a half cup at the end of the fast. The apples contain
pectin, which leeches toxins from the blood stream and
intestines. It will also leech anything with food value,
so don't eat anything else, including vitamins (which
serve only to assist in the absorption and digestion of
other foods, and are useless by themselves). If you add
anything else to the diet, the pectin will be wasted in
leeching and absorbing that, rather than the toxins.
Drink only distilled water, for the same reason. Normal
water contains minerals, which will waste the absorptive
power of the apples.
The olive oil is for the purpose of soothing and nourishing
the intestines. The peels of the raw apples will scrape
your digestive tract clean of any impactions and traces
of waste matter. This can produce mild to moderate distress,
especially among the elderly or those who have avoided the
regular use of fiber in their diet, and truthfully, the
vast majority of us ingest much too little in the way of
raw fruits and vegetables. The original recommendation
was to consume a half cup of cold-pressed olive oil at
the end of the fast. This is in keeping with the idea of
not ingesting anything but apples during the diet, but
some people found this too daunting, so it was modified
to a tablespoon, 3x a day. I would personally recommend
the half cup at the end, which seems to have some unique
benefits that are hard to describe. This can be made
easier by pinching your nostrils as you drink it, to
moderate the strong flavor, and by having a chunk of
raw apple handy to chew immediately afterward, in order
to cleanse your palate of the taste.
It's called a fast because, by eating only apples, the
body is fooled into a fasting mode, so it starts dumping
toxins from the liver, kidneys, and other internal organs,
into the bloodstream, where they can be absorbed by the
pectin. Nonetheless, be prepared to stink and feel grouchy
on the 2nd day, due to the release of all the toxins into
your system. Best to start on a Friday and finish on a
Sunday. You won't want to be around people on the second
day. You will likely be very irritable. If you are living
with family or a roommate, explain to them what you're
doing, and enlist their support in giving you some space.
Eat a minimum of 8-10 apples a day. You may be sick of them
before you're done, but they will remove every trace of toxic
substances from your system. You can eat as many as you like,
and should definitely eat one or more, as desired, whenever
you experience hunger or a craving of any kind.
Cayce specified certain varieties of apples as being most
effective:
"Those that pertain to those activities of the Jonathan
variety of the apple, or the jenneting; the Black
Arkansas, the Oregon Red, (which are the ones you have
here), the Sheepnose, the Delicious, the Arkansas Russet;
any of those that are of the jenneting variety."

I have always used Yellow Delicious apples, as they taste
quite good, and are easy to obtain nationwide.
You can supplement the diet with one other thing, but only
if you must, due to feeling physically weak, in which case
you can add the juice of a lemon to distilled water with a
bit of raw honey (don't use honey with Grade A on the label).
This will strengthen you. Nonetheless, Cayce noted that one
shouldn't try to "work like a horse" while doing the fast,
which could prove debilitating. If you work construction,
e.g., it would be best to take Friday off to initiate the
fast.
This method is an excellent cleansing diet in general, and
will produce some weight loss. If you want to maintain the
weight loss, stay away from starches in general, white flour,
white sugar, too much salt, and milk. This diet may prove too
extreme for people who are very overweight, and/or have never
fasted before, in which case, do it under your doctor's
supervision.
Break the fast gently, with some yoghurt to reinforce the
friendly intestinal flora, followed by some soft raw fruits,
and then some soft cooked veggies a bit later. Then, once
you can feel your digestive system returning to normal, follow
your appestat (appetite thermostat) from there, though you
might want to avoid starches for awhile, as noted above, and
very heavy (hard to digest) foods like cheeseburgers, at
least until you can guage how your system responds to lighter
foods.
It is also wise to think of fasting and cleansing as a process
which involves not just the body, but the mind and emotions.
While physically fasting from food and the substance you are
giving up, also fast from thoughts of that substance and the
emotional connection you have with it. Keep your attention
on the kinds of thoughts and feelings you would prefer to
have as a result of the process. Begin to think of yourself
as someone who has a great respect for your body and is
thoughtful about what goes into it. When you drift into old
patterns of thinking and feeling which are products of the
self-image which was associated with drug use, simply observe
this occurring, and gently re-focus your thoughts and feelings
on the self-image you would prefer as an outcome of this process.
If you have any questions at all about the process, please post
a Request for Clarification.
I wish you success in your endeavor.
