The name of a rock song and the group that performed it. Song
received a lot of air play somewhere between '93 and '95.

Contained in the lyrics was the phrase 'Pay the Rent' or 'Make the
Rent'. The song is very 'driving', intense and several voices are on vocals.

Are you thinking of "Pay the Rent" (1993) by Green Apple Quick Step?
Track #7 on this CD...

Pleae let me know if this is your song... and I'll post it as the official answer.

Thanks for responding; your effort is appreciated.

The Green Apple song with 'Pay the Rent' as the title is not the
correct song. Please note that the words 'Make the Rent' or 'Pay the
Rent' appear in the lyric and are not necessarily in the title.

Are there any other lyrics you can remember?

Do the lyrics sound like:

The preacher said, "richer or poorer",
My mama said, "thick or thin",
You can kiss me, baby
When it's time to get thick again
And, baby, you know it's simple
It's just a matter of common sense
I want you to love me, baby,
'til tomorrow can pay the rent
Tomorrow can pay the rent

If so let me know and I will post the band name and song name as an answer.

There is no answer at this time.

Try googling this:

lyrics "pay the rent"

Use the quotes. It will return matching pages for the word 'lyrics'
that contain the exact phrase - 'pay the rent'

Most of the listings are for the green apple reference already made so
give the credit to the previous post if that answered your question.
Outside of that, my answer will make it possible for you to search for
variations or other phrases you may remember from this song or others
you may be looking for.
