Dear krapone-ga,

The latest figures for SUVs I can find are for 2004. These newspapers
quote Department of Transport figures.

15 October 2005
The Independent
?In the capital, the number of SUVs has risen from 88,882 in 1997 to
176,610 last year?

Evening Standard
14 Oct 2005
?Today's count show that there are now 1.6 million SUVs in Britain as
against 743,000 in 1997 [...] In London, the number of Chelsea
tractors has risen from 88,882 in 1997 to 176,610 last year.?

Sales figures are regularly quoted. These are for 2006.
?As new figures showed sales of 4x4 vehicles dipping for the first
time, Greenpeace urged Tony Blair to enact proposals to tax polluting
vehicles more heavily. A total of 105,196 new SUVs were sold in the
first seven months of 2006 compared with 106,732 in January-July

I hope this answers your question. If it does not, or the answer is
unclear, then please ask for clarification of this research before
rating the answer. I shall respond to the clarification request as
soon as I receive it.
Thank you
