What requirements do UK retail stores have with regard to maximum
dimensions, weight, packaging, labeling, certification, stock
holdings, merchandising and promotional material, returns policy etc
for outdoor sports equipment that they sell?

Some background: I have designed and made a product for sale in the
UK that allows children aged 5 to 12 to undertake sporting activities
in their own gardens. As it is a bit bulky and heavy I now want to
redesign it so that it can be sold through retail stores like Argos,
ToysRus, sports shops etc.

Hello chris1191-ga,

So far, I'm only coming up with safety codes for sporting equipment.

I can probably also find labeling requirements for the UK and the EU.

However, I'm not sure that any store's policies would cover ALL the
issues you've stipulated: maximum dimensions, weight, packaging,
labeling, certification, stock holdings, merchandising and promotional
material, returns policy etc."

I'm not sure what you mean by stock holdings: do you mean would the
retailer want to buy stock in your company? Also, I would imagine any
store's existing return policy would apply to your product as well.

I have written to Argos to ask them about the issues you've raised, in
regard to their policies for acquiring new sporting goods products.

I will let you know when I hear back from them; however, your question
may expire before I get a reply.

In the meantime, I'll keep hunting.

Best regards,
nancylynn-ga
