Dear lmr, I found no negative information about A&J, and in fact, they seem to be reliable: they have a stable business for years. The details about their website show, for example, that it exists since 2001. However, no matter how reliable a company might look, there are several things that you can do: - read carefully through the contract; - insure the goods in the car; - disucss the reliability of this and other car transfer companies at: Expat Focus <http://www.expatfocus.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=54> Spain Expat <http://www.spainexpat.com/spain/forum/> Importing Cars: Bringing Your Car to Spain <http://www.spainexpat.com/spain/information/importing_cars_bringing_your_car_to_spain/> I hope this answers your question. Hi lmr-ga There IS more info on the company: A&J Exhibitions Ltd Registered Office: CARLTON HOUSE 101 NEW LONDON ROAD CHELMSFORD ESSEX CM2 0PP Company No. 03578745 Incorporated: 10/06/1998 Its last accounts for the Year Ended 31/12/2006 show that it is a substantial company that it had Net Assets of £942,218 and that it was a subsidiary of Verso Automation Ltd. This should give you the comfort that you are seeking. Please note that sourcing this information cost me £1, as a Subsriber to Companies House Direct (I also pay a monthly fee to be a subscriber.) However, you cannot expect this depth of information from Politicalguru-ga whose remuneration for her answer is only $1.50 - less than £1. However, I have supplemented Politicalguru's answer on this occasion because you may not have appreciated the time and out-of-pocket costs involved. Please reward me by rating Politicalguru's answer with FIVE STARS and please give her whatever tip you can afford. Many thanks! Bryan |

A bit over 20 years ago I shipped my car to Spain from the US. I had been instructed not to put anything in the car that might be stolen and I heeded those warnings meticulously. Every loose item was inventoried-- spare tire, tire iron, jack-- and photographs of the car and engine were taken. The car was sealed at export customs and not unsealed until it arrived for import inspection in Cadiz. The only thing not listed or photographed was an ice scraper/snow brush (worth maybe $2) that was a necessity in New England but would hardly be needed in sunny southern Spain. They stole it. |
