The music to which you refer, which reminds me of Bach, is actually of
modern origin. It is "Perpetuum Mobile," composed by Simon Jeffes and
performed by the Penguin Cafe Orchestra. It is available on the
Penguin Cafe Orchestra's CD "Signs of Life." The single can be
obtained from iTunes and other online sources. You can listen to a
brief clip here (scroll down to item #9):

Amazon: Signs of Life
http://www.amazon.com/Signs-Life-Penguin-Cafe-Orchestra/dp/B000003S38/

If you are interested in learning more about the Penguin Cafe
Orchestra, they have their own website:

The Penguin Cafe Orchestra
http://www.penguincafe.com/home.htm

You can verify that this is the correct music by listening to the clip
on Amazon and then re-watching the pilot of "3 lbs" at CBS's
"Innertube" site. Click "All Shows," then on the next screen click
"Full Episodes," then on "3 lbs," then on "Lost For Words (Series
Premiere)". Sorry it takes so much clicking, but there doesn't seem to
be a way to link directly to the show.

I hope this is precisely what you need! If not, please request
clarification; I'll be glad to offer further assistance before you
rate my answer.
