Question ID: 783906
the situation:
i have 6 cameras with footage of the same event, currently 1 computer,
I have up to 6 people that want to log/capture/export to
QuickTime/then burn to data disk/to be mailed to others who will do
the actual editing. We want to have a system that is replicable if we
film a lot of events.

Question 1
I currently have a mac G5 with FCP, but I want to add 2-4 more
computers to simply increase the time to capture/log/export/burn/mail
to others. I know Macs are better, but for my needs, it seems getting
2-3 PCs with Premier Pro would save me almost 2/3rds the total cost
and work just as well being that I am only using the computers to
c/l/e/b/m. Am I correct in my thinking? (my budget is $800-2000)

Question 2
If I wanted to recombine QuickTime?s (match up footage accordingly),
it seems i have two options:
     1. to c/l/e/b to data disks on 2-3 computers, then upload/import
the data disks to 1 computer, recombine the footage so that we are not
sending 3 DVDs at once, but only 1 with condensed appropriate footage.

     2. Possibly set up an elementary data transfer system where all 3
are hooked into a central terabyte drive? i don?t know if this is
possible, but i do not need to save footage, soon as we have it
c/l/e/b to data disk we will delete it freeing up the terabyte drive
for more use. Is this possible? do you recommend a better way?

thank you
