Question ID: 785283
I am using an application called "Kiosk in a Box"
Unfortunately, it hangs randomly when playing video files. Has anyone
else encountered this problem and found a solution?

I have already tried multiple different video files, in different file
formats, on different computers with different video cards, and have
also disabled video acceleration features on the video card. I'm
running a fairly standard Windows XP SP2 configuration.

ns1200s...

There's essentially nothing on the internet about this problem,
suggesting that it's not a common problem or that the software
is relatively new, and the problems haven't found their way
online yet.

Presumably you must have already tried contacting them for
support, but...

This testimonial page on their website suggests that they will
provide excellent support. The email addy for Dave is at the
bottom:

If for some reason that's not a workable option, the only
thing I can suggest is the possibility that some of the
video files being accessed are web-based, streamed videos
and a slow connection might be affecting playback. If no
connection is involved, and they are all local files, it
might have something to do with how much RAM is installed,
or whether the memory configuration is such that the
Swap File or Virtual Memory is becoming involved in the
playback process, slowing it down.

Let me know...
