I want to know the following 1.) A list of all of the people whom have ever flown rocketbelts or rocket packs. I am referring to jet packs like those in the movie Rocketeer. 2.) A list of everyone whom has ever walked on the moon. These list represent all over the world. Not just in the United States. Your lists need to contain links to reputable, verifiable sites that yield more information about each rocketbelt pilot or astronaut. Pictures of the rocketbelt pilots in flight and astronauts on the moon also add credibility. It is possible that each of these lists exist on a single site. If so, provide links to such sites. | |

The list of moonwalkers is easy & short, as exactly 12 have done so, all American astronauts from the Apollo program of the 1960s & 1970s. They are as follows: Apollo 11: Neil Armstrong; Edwin (Buzz) Aldrin Apollo 12: Charles Conrad; Alan Bean Apollo 14: Alan Shepard; Stuart Roosa Apollo 15: David Scott; James Irwin Apollo 16: John Young; Charles Duke Apollo 17: Eugene Cernan; Harrison Schmitt In-depth information regarding these individuals, as well as photographs, can be found easily on the internet. Just go to www.nasa.gov as a start. A list of all rocketpack pilots may be harder to come by. To my knowledge, the only working rocketpack to date is the design which you've cited already, which was introduced several decades ago. In my estimation, you should contact someone at www.rocketman.org directly for more authoritative information on this question. |

Would a NASA MMU (Manned Maneuvering Unit) used by shuttle and space station astronauts count as a jet pack? Now those things are really cool! There is a much more sensibly designed unit that sort of involves the pilot standing in... um, let's call it a deep bucket that is equipped with rocket units. It was shown at a World's Fair something like 40 years ago. |

"Would a NASA MMU (Manned Maneuvering Unit) used by shuttle and space station astronauts count as a jet pack?" I hadn't thought of that. Unless the OP has something more specific in mind, I'd say that an MMU should count. But, should this also include, I wonder, Ed White's hand-held, cold-gas thruster? |

I got to see Charlie Duke speak a few months ago-- what a classy and interesting guy! |
