Geographers began contributing to petroleum related studies through
the 1970's in place specific studies of land use and the impacts of
resource extraction.  Please provide some references to such studies
that represent the literature at the time (1970s). Geology and
geography related articles are equally appropriate, other research
backgrounds would be acceptable.  If possible, please provide
reference to an article
summing research at the time period.
