Which operating system are you using? For what purpose are you unzipping files?

Thank you for your question.

As you can see by the numerous suggestions put forth by commenters,
the "best" is just someone's opinion on what they like and use.  There
is no one right answer.

Earlier, I mentioned Winrar.  While this is what I personally use and
rely on, I was incorrect by stating it was the "best, hands down." 
Upon conferring with a fellow professional, I have realized the error
of my ways and I give you this mea culpa.

The most comprehensive unzipping software with the best compression
technology is Winace, available from

It handles virtually every single compression format and is extremely easy to use.

The second-best unzipping software (in my opinion) is Winrar,
available from http://www.rarlab.com/

Many times, you will find .rar files that need unzipping and for
these, you will need Winrar to unzip.

Winzip 8.1 SR 1 is best to unzip

I use 7-zip. For windows, IMHO, it's the best _free_ alternative.

Hello. I think your question may be a bit vague, but I will try and
answer it. The best type of zip depends on a few things(eg. does it
have to be free? what os should you use it for, etC). Winzip is a
great tool, but winzip 11.0 pro is the best version I have used by far
up until now. I would also say winrar is a great tool also, unzipping
more formats than winzip. But, the zip programs that I would
recommend(they can unzip almost any format, definetely more than
winzip/winrar) would be winace,this does all kinds including
ace(winzip doesn't recognize ace files, or .tar or .arj neither does
winrar). The best I have used(best meaning most file types recognized)
of all the types is wincommander. Wincommander has a difficult
interface though, so I would have to go with Winace. Hope this helps,

Winrar

If you are looking JUST for zip files almost any unzip program will
work fine.  I however use winrar because it supports all possible
compressed files including .tar .gz .zip. .bz2 .ace .rar and many
more, and it is free.

Winzip does not support all of these files. 

I find winzip does work a bit faster on zip files but the difference
is not significant enough to warrant having both winrar and winzip.

Looking at the usage ratio and zip ratio, I would suggest WinRAR. 
It is also compactible with many of the Zip file software.
