I am currently in working in the UK. I am a dutch citizen and I am also a South African citizen. South Africa is an incredibly expensive place to buy a car, new or second hand. This is due to the virtual monopoly in that country of the car market by the company Barloworld. I would like to purchase a car in Europe which I would like to then take with me to South Africa to use a vehicle there. Ideally I would like a car with a right-hand side steering-wheel(South African's drive on the left side of the road) And I will get a car that is common in South Africa(and ironically may even have been manufactured there) What are the requirements/best way to achieve this? What are laws governing this in South Africa and Europe regarding taxes and tariffs and what is the most cost effective way for me to make this happen? Time is not a great issue so this could happen in a year/6 months or whatever. For this question to be answered properly I'd idealy like a comprehensive answer which I could use a step by step guide to making this happen along with relevant contacts/websites etc... |
