Dear Pink: Have just received the bad news that our beloved GA forum
will be terminated soon. Can you identify any Internet discussion
groups that have high standards? Most of the so-called chat groups are
dominated by juveniles obssessed with hedonism and celebrities.
   Any link that meets your standards will do. I realize that getting
specific questions answered will be unlikely.

Thank you so much for asking. I appreciate your generosity, and am
immensely flattered that my opinion on this matter holds any weight.

The best public online forum I know of, and the only one on which I am
currently very active, is The Straight Dope Message Board. This is a
large, lively community of mostly intelligent, mostly mature, mostly
entertaining folks. "Dopers," as we call ourselves, are a diverse lot.
The majority, I believe, are atheists and agnostics. Most appear to be
left-of-center politically. Nevertheless, there seems to be room for a
Christian conservative like myself; this is a very tolerant board on
which the only thing that is almost universally despised is ignorance
(but, of course, each of us defines "ignorance" differently)!

Such sad news!  I rely on Google Answers for both information and entertainment.  

To answer your original question, though, I'd like to recommend
another forum at which PinkFreud is a frequent contributor: the
message boards at The Straight Dope (http://boards.straightdope.com). 
The boards are moderated and are VERY civil.
