I have Outlook 2000 installed on my PC at home. I would like to be able to add and edit entries into my Outlook 2000 Calendar over the Internet (from remote locations). How can this be done? I'm willing to look into 3rd party software or hosting that is affordable as long as my Outlook can sync and/or be edited. |

Hello, Thank you for your question. You will not be able to do this without access to an Exchange server (as stated in a comment). Your outlook client at home will not be working in an exchange environment and as such will act in a standalone fashion only connecting to the internet to collect new mails. This now poses two issues with one issue in two parts. Do you want to go to the extreme of buying your own exchange 2003 server and installing it at home and routing all your mail to it? I am guessing no! An alternative is to do as mentioned below and get single user hosting with a 3rd party. You will still need to set up your local outlook to query this server. You may even need to upgrade your copy of outlook in order to work successfully with the exchange server. The way I would set this up would be to use Remote Desktop if I owned a Windows XP machine. Using Remote Desktop allows you to connect remotely to your personal computer and this will allow you to edit your schedules and check your mails at the same time. If you don't have Windows XP you could always use realvnc (available from www.realvnc.com) and set this up as your remote gateway to your local pc which will allow you to edit your schedules and check your mail too! Configuring this though is a question in its own right. If you need clarification just let me know! --keystroke-ga |

Try Exchange Server hosting. For one user, it should be reasonable. It gets expensive when you have many users. A quick Google for "exchange server hosting" reveals this inexpensive one: https://secure.dslextreme.com/Medusa/Exchange/Default.aspx?cid=15 There are others! Good luck! |
