I turned on my computer and was surprised to find the size of the
display had become smaller and the symbols to reduce the size or to
extend it had been reversed. I clicked of F11 and it did not make any
difference. This coincided with aa short 'spyware attack detect'
appeared at the bottom of the screen and there is no mechanism to get
rid of it.

Thank you for your question.

It sounds to me as though you have corruption in your system. There is
no way to fix this except in person physically. If I was
in your situation,  I would take my PC to a local PC repair center and get it
reinstalled after backing up your important documents.  You can back
up on an external hard drive or on DVDs or CDs if you don't have that
much data.

Your display manager isnt right, as it appears. Right click desktop,
go to display setting and choose a lower resolution. Also make sure
graphic card drivers are not infected by any virus.

excuse me press... control (ctrl) aand scroll your mouse up and down
(IF UP SCROLL UP YOUR SCREEN WILL BECOME BIGGER AND IF YOU SCROLL DOWN
YOUR SCREEN WILL BECOME SMALLER) i had a similiar problem.
