There are many great researchers at GA, but I can't afford to ask each of you a question. I ask the great PinkFreud because she has enlightened and entertained me for 2 or 3 years now even though -- and perhaps even because -- we come from different philosophical vantage points. (She has recently described herself as a Christian Conservative, I do believe. Yet she has a superb sense of humour. ;-) ) So, Pink: if it's not too impertinent a question (and if it is, I'll accept any answer you choose to give), what do you plan to do now? I also welcome any comments from other GARs and GACs respecting the Pink One or yourselves! Some have suggested a purchase of GA, which I think is an excellent idea! (Unfortunately I don't think I have the resources to hand myself.) Let me also express here that I had previously thought (with a bit of a wobble on the Chinese thing) that Gargantuel was a socially responsible company, but this, this ... foul and distasteful murder of GA annihilates that thought. |

Hello, Thaumaturge (great username)! Thanks for noticing me. I've noticed you, too. I bet you'd have made a wonderful addition to the team here, if the game hadn't been cancelled. Loved your comment about the cat running off with Hardy's heart (hardy-har). Regarding the matter of what comes next for me, I have nothing lined up. Google Answers was my only source of income and very nearly my only source of human companionship. Because my health is very dodgy, I cannot work outside my home nor accept jobs with strict deadlines. Google Answers was my dream job. The dream is over. I know that this is not a very satisfying answer, but it is the truth. Other online research projects involving GARs are apparently underway, but I am not a part of them at this time. To flesh out my response, here is a bit of verse: SOME NOTES ON THE ANIMAL KINGDOM Mourn not the dinosaur trapped in the mire Nor the doomed moth, making friends with the fire, Nor love-mad mayflies that mate, then expire: One May, One flight To spend... Day Night And an end. But pity the kitty in futile travail, Puss striving wildly to catch her own tail, Fretful to grasp it, yet shamed should she fail: Play And bite And pain, Day And night And day again. ================================================= Best from Pink | |

PinkFreud, I think yours is the greatest username, I must say. (I only chose thaumaturge because I like the word!) Unfortunately I have come rather late to the GA party as an offical user, but as I mentioned have been silently following for 2 or 3 years now. So it seems to me as though the GARs and regular commenters are friends although I have been invisible! Your ability to name any obscure book or film has astounded me but greater still is your wit and wisdom. I do encourage you to participate in other research projects if you can but it's also occurred to me that you would make a fantastic blogger. One of my favourites is http://jonswift.blogspot.com -- I think you may enjoy it! I'm not sure how much money is to be made thusly, but I belive that some revenue may be generated through ads. (I am a complete stranger to Mr. Swift and this is not intended as a mercenary plug.) Siliconsamurai's suggestion is a good one too, but why stick at local papers? GA has shown that everyone enjoys hearing your opinion! Think 'on-line syndicated column'.... Many thanks too for the Notes on the Animal Kingdom. We should enjoy today's miseries and not focus on past ones, eh? ;-) Rather Hardyesque! (Although I think he would say that we could do both. Reading Hardy always cheers me up.) Best of luck to you, the other GARs and the regular commenters. (What *will* myoarin do when he returns from his hiatus? It seems that commenting is verboten now.) I shall miss you all! thaumaturge p.s. Has anyone else noticed that Kemlo has been absent over the same period as Myoarin? I think perhaps people had the wrong secret identity for him! |

Pink, contact your local newspapers, perhaps a column? Contact me if you want suggestions, I'm sure you can figure out an email for me if you put your mind to it for a few (or 2) steps. I'm not really nasty, I just don't suffer fools gladly and YOU are no fool. |

thaumaturge, Thank you very much for the five stars and the generous tip! And a special thanks for the words of praise. I appreciate both the laurels and the Hardy. ~Pink |
