Greetings silo,

The error code you are referring to oftens means that one of your
message store files has been corrupted and needs to be either repaired
or deleted.

I'm not sure exactly when/where you are receiving the error code and
under what circumstances, so I'm going to give you several Microsoft
knowledge base articles that deal with Outlook Express error messages
similar to this one. I also poked around in the USENET newsgroups and
found several people that had the exact same error code and almost all
of them had a corrupt message store file that had to be compacted or
deleted and re-created before the error was fixed.

From the newsgroups:

"That (error) usually indicates some damage to the message store. Try
clicking File/Work Offline followed by File/Folder/Compact All Folders
which can often repair minor corruption to the message store. If that
fails, you
may need to delete folders.dbx as outlined in this KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q233264

For added info, see this website:
http://www.tomsterdam.com/insideOE/problems/errors.htm#foldersdbx
--
Jim Pickering, MVP-Outlook Express"

Here are several Microsoft Technet articles dealing with OE errors and
their solutions:

Error Message Using Some Rules in Outlook Express
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q225096&

You Receive an Error Message or Are Unable to Start Outlook Express
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q245419&

Error Message If the Folders.dbx File Is Missing or Damaged
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q233264&

Err Msg: "This Program Has Performed an Illegal Operation and Will Be
Shut Down"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q238656

Error 0x800C013B When You Attempt to Send a Message in Outlook Express
5
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q253795

It looks to me that article Q233264 is probably the closest match to
your specific error number if compacting your folders does not correct
the issue. Note that in addition to folders.dbx, there are other .dbx
files that could also be corrupted that you can use the same method
with.

If you do end up having to delete one or more of your dbx files, be
sure to check out this page:
http://www.tomsterdam.com/insideOE/problems/errors.htm#foldersdbx

...and pay especially close attention to the following notice:

"If the Folders.dbx becomes corrupt, OE often stops displaying folders
for existing *.dbx files, and sometimes will simply refuse to start.
Also a bloated Folders.dbx can make OE run very slowly. Both problems
can be repaired by closing OE and deleting Folders.dbx. Understand
though that you will lose the mail tree structure, all lists of
newsgroups, and all synchronization options, and that message rules
will likely need to be edited."

If you would like to find more error messages and their corresponding
fixes, you can visit Microsoft's Technet knowledge base online at:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet

...and search for any errors you are receiving, or simply search for
"Outlook Express".

I hope that helps to answer your question and get your Outlook Express
back in working order again. Fixing computer problems is usually a
troubleshooting process, so please don't hesitate to ask for
clarification if you need further assistance on this question. Just be
sure to leave more details on the problem you are having and I'll do
more research to help you work through to a solution.

Sincerely,
PWizard
