Can't you look at it with Norton Utilities? |

Did you try View->Folder Options->check Show All Hidden Files? |

I'm starting to see why people are getting frustrated on other posted problems...questions are posted dealing with programming issues and people are telling them how to do it manually (which isn't much of an answer when you stop and think about it). To examine or manipulate file (or directory) options, use one of the following functions: setattr(), getattr(), fileattr(). These functions were added in VB 3.0 and are still available in V 7.0 (.Net). I don't qualify as an "official answerer" (expert?) so I'll do the best I can do to supply an answer (as though I were). The machine I'm writing this from is not completely up (new mobo, cpu, etc. etc. - just a remote proxy and cable modem to give me online access.) - I haven't reinstalled any software or compilers, just 200+G of open disk space spinning empty. So if you need code instead of just the function name(s), I'll try to remember to track this problem down to ensure it's completed (with or without an "expert") |

You need to use the DIR function. Let's say you want to list all files
on drive A: whether they are hidden or not :
Dim MyFile as string
' Myfile contains the first file name
' Call Dir again without arguments to return the next file
' in the same same directory.
MyFile = Dir
' Display the names in C:\ that represent directories.
MyName = Dir("A:\*.*", vbHidden) ' Retrieve the first entry.
Do While MyName <> "" ' Start the loop.
Debug.Print MyName ' Display entry only if it
MyName = Dir ' Get next entry.
Loop
' this example will print all of the file names in the debug window,
of course
' you could do something else with them. Use GetAttr function to
examine
' attributes if you ONLY want to see hidden ones. Hope this helps! |
