Have a look at Washington Families magazine (and similar magazines)
which are distributed free all over town, especially in libraries,
community centers, schools, and so on. They're also on line, and have
a tutoring resources page at:

http://www.washingtonfamilies.com/guides/education.htm#tutor

that covers both institutional and at-home services. You might want
to pay particular attention to:

Tutor Find
800-64-TUTOR
www.tutorfind.com
Description: The largest provider of private, in-home tutoring in the
Washington, DC area.

Good luck. My third grader is in DC public school, and we're
generally happy with the experience he's had so far, but I can
certainly see the draw to home schooling as well.
