I am looking to use Microsoft Word (XP) and adding in the ability to
do syntax highlighting like a normal IDE. Is their and ActiveX control
that will add this functionality. If not what I'm looking for in
another IDE is the same feature Word has at tracking changes on the
side of the document. Along with syntax highlighting for numerous
programming languages. I already use NEdit and UltraEdit but they lack
document tracking.

What language (or group of languages) are you looking to for syntax highlighting?

If what you need is only document tracking, then you might want to
look into version control system like CVS or Visual SourceSafe. CVS is
open-source, you may find it at http://www.cvshome.org. You may also
get the windows version which runs as an NT service from
http://www.cvsnt.org. If you need a GUI front-end for cvs, you may try
WinCVS at http://www.wincvs.org.

Hi !

You should look at EditPlus (http://www.editplus.com).

EditPlus is a text editor which has features for
- autocompletion (ACP)
- syntax highlighting (STX)
- template support (TPL)

It supports different file formats and allows u to add as many more as
u wish.

You may need to create you own ACP, STX, TPL files, but there are
heaps of user-contributed files, which u can easily use.

Also note that EditPlus already has support for C++, PHP, HTML,
JAVASCRIPT.

Another wonderful feature of EditPlus is that you can connect to FTP
and modify files directly on the server.

HTH,

Kunal
