Greetings rn_casemgr,

I've done some research on your question regarding the tracking of
medications for patients to use at home. I came up with a few
different choices and each of them have different attributes. I've
listed them out below:

RxPro
http://www.mmrsoft.com/rxpro.htm

"With this easy to use Windows based software package you'll be able
to build and maintain a list of your (and your families)
prescriptions. If you ever go on vacation, just print out a report
with all of this valuable information. When you go see your
physician, just print out a report and take it with you."

Features: Unlimited Prescriptions, Unlimited Family Members,
Prescription Detail and Summary Reports, Export information to many
different formats, Ten different prescription reports. Price is
$39.00.

Family Health Record
http://www.witworks-software.com/index.htm

"A user-friendly personal healthcare software that gives you an easy,
efficient way to record your family's health history and medical
events."

You may create the following Family Health Record reports for each
family member, based on the data you enter:

Allergies, Demographics, Diseases/Illnesses/Medical Conditions,
Emergency Information Packet, Equipment, Hospital/ER/SurgeryVisits,
Medical Expenses, Family History, Home Care Visits, Immunizations,
Insurance Policy Information, Legal Issues/Documents,
Medications/Herbs, Vitamins/Supplements, Physician Visits,
Pregnancies, Service Providers, Trackable Health Data,
Treatments/Tests, Therapies/Counseling. Price is $9.95.

The Family Information Pack
http://www.bluewizard.com/index.htm

"The Family Information Pack is a tool for families that assists in
Information and Document Management, Planning, and Genealogical
Research."

This program may be a bit of overkill as it stores all sorts of
information outside of medications, but it does offer a medications
module that has the features you were looking for. Price is $49.95.

Here's another you might want to look at as well. I couldn't find much
about this one, but there is a free demo:

Med-A-Base ($34.95)
http://download.com.com/3000-2129-10126559.html?tag=lst-0-4

"Complete Patient Medical Information Database. Keeps track of
prescription info and alerts the patient to of take their medication,
multiple pharmacy and doctor contact numbers. It also keeps track of
your upcoming office visits."

If the program you decide to go with doesn't have all of the
medications and their built-in interactions/side effects, the patient
can always go to one of the medication info websites such as
RXList.com and get all of that info for free on any medication and
then store it in the program.

I hope that helps to answer your question. Please don't hesitate to
ask for clarification should you need further assistance with this
question - I'll be happy to conduct further research if necessary.

Sincerely,
PWizard
