The following two books have to be read before answer this question:
1. "The Medium is the Massage: An Inventory of Effects" by Marshal
McLuhan
2. "Yellow Pages: A Catalogue of Intentions" by Nicole Markotic

I am writing an essay of the following question:
"Consider the titles of McLuhan's and Markotic's books, The medium is
the Massage: An Inventory of Effects /and/ Yellow Pages: A Catalogue
of Intentions. How do the titles of these works relate to their
content?"

Can anyone give me some useful hints with evidence?

The book is called 'MESSAGE', not MASSAGE ... an easy slip to make.

Actually, the book *is* called "The Medium is the Massage"

Ok, to follow myself up, it looks like one printing of it did use
Message instead of Massage. So either could be considered "correct"
(although you will find more matches on Massage).

Leep is absolutely correct.

ABEBOOKS.COM has thrown up 112 'Massages' but only 8 'Messages'.

I think 'MASSAGE' is a newer edition. I heard that it was 'MESSAGE' at
the begining of the publishing. However, McLuhan changed it to
'MASSAGE' after.

Actually, McLuhan changed a previous quote "the medium is the message"
to the "medium is the MASSAGE" to drive home his theory that media
messages are "washed-over" the individual like a massage!
