Hello,
Im curious as to why my website at www.alisonandjeffrey.com used to
come up number one on any of my keywords I've placed on my index page,
and in the source file. Now my site comes up on page 2 or 3 with any
of my keyword searchs. It used to be if you searched for "mccommas
family" my site came up on the first search. Not any more.
Could you please tell me what I'm doing wrong? And what I should do to
correct this.
Thank you,
Jeffrey McCommas

Dear chefjeff,

I did a Google search for "mccommas family" and yours were the first
four links to be listed. However, they are linked to some form of
"links4trade" and not www.alisonandjeffrey.com.

The TITLE is the most important part of your meta tags and every word
is vitally important. You have now:
Title: "The McCommas and Aronis Family Personal Website -
www.alisonandjeffrey.com" = 74 characters

My TITLE suggestion (60 characters max):
"McCommas and Aronis Family: Tree, Genealogy, Photos, History" = 60
characters
The idea is to include "target keywords" - be sure to include them in
the text of your website.

TARGET KEYWORDS:
Work on the text of you website and include all of the words of the
TITLE at least once, include keywords too.

KEYWORDS you have now:
"mccommas, aronis, mccommas family, aronis family, jeffrey mccommas,
alison aronis, Darla McCommas, Garlock Family, Jerry McCommas, Mark
Aronis, Jeff Aronis, Suzanne Aronis, family web page,
alisonandjeffrey.com,
family web page, free family web page, short family web page, coulman
family
web page, johnson family web page, family photo album, family history
photo
album, naturist family photo album, our family photo album, family
photo,
photo of family, old family photo, photo family, growing family first
photo,
family tree info, free family tree info, family info, family reunion
info,
photo archive, free photo archive, strap on photo archive, national
archive
photo, national photo archive, free personal web site, personal
wedding web
site, my personal web site, best personal web site, web site personal
= 465 characters

My KEYWORD suggestions to get you started (874 characters max):
"mccommas, aronis, family, genealogy, history, photographs, photo
album, family tree, events, Boston MA, Tewksbury, internet romances,
wedding, Jeffrey, Alison, Darla, Garlock, Jerry, Mark, Jeff, Suzanne,
alisonandjeffrey, Coulman, Johnson, naturists, reunions, archives,
personal web sites = 290 characters.
The jury is out about commas and spaces - see the links below for
advice. Try not to repeat a word too many times - 2 or 3 times max.

DESCRIPTION you have now:
"alisonandjeffrey.com provides you with information regarding the
Family of Jeffrey McCommas and Alison Aronis with events and photo
collections.
Visit family tree history on The Aronis and McCommas Family" = 204
characters.

My DESCRIPTION suggestion (150 max):
"You're invited to visit the family album of Jeffrey McCommas and
Alison Aronis - included are family events, photographs, and our
family tree." = 144 characters

I hope this helps and gets you off to a good start on updating your
meta tags. Your website is very personal and only you can come up
with the right combination of terms used. It will be a matter of trial
and error, but remember, you'll need to leave an update live for at
least 3 or 4 weeks to get an accurate idea of how your update is
doing. Once you make your first major change, it should just be a
matter of tweaking it to get it "just right".

Most of all, have fun (and congratulations)!
Sincerely,
hummer
