Am looking for a photograph of Rudolf Nureyev possibly taken by
Richard Avedon. The photo is a nude Nureyev leaping mid-air.
It was published in a fashion magazine around 1980.

Lablover,

Are you looking for a photo to purchase (such as a poster or other
high-quality print,) or a photo that is online?

Could you describe the mid-air pose, as to the position of Nureyev's
legs and arms? This will help us to narrow the field a bit.

Thanks!

I am interested in purchasing either an art book that includes this
photo or a quality print. In regard to his gesture in photo--Nureyev
is doing the classic leap--legs in open scissor form and arms
outstreched.

a gelatin silver print of "Nureyev posing naked" by Avedon was sold
by Sotheby's during their annual Passion for Fashion sale in London
Dec. 18, 2001.
It was offered for sale by the dancer’s former personal assistant Joan
Thring.

Perhaps a copy of the sale catalog would include an image of the
photo.

Avedon did many photos of Nureyev over at least two decades. If you
believe it was published in a fasion magazine around 1980 are you
certain, he was indeed nude and not in a body stocking? I recall a
very striking photo of the dancer in mid-air but he was in a body
stocking.

The most likely magazine for an Avedon photo at that time would be
Vanity Fair.

I hope this is of some help.
