I am looking for a firm (or individual) that can provide me with
Corporate ID services (i.e. brand identity work).  Corporate and
product naming, logo design, and print design capabilities are
essential.  Website design and development capabilities are a big
plus.  Product design capabilities are nice-to-have.  Must be located
in New York City.  Must be reasonably priced (i.e. <$5,000 for a
complete naming and logo design package).  Strong track-record and
multiple work samples/references are esssential.

Developing a corporate identity can be one of the most important parts
of a marketing plan for an organization.  From a brand marketing
perspective, a logo and the associated media (print, web, etc) are how
your customers and prospective customers are going to get to know you
and your products.  By taking the time and working with a
professional, you are insuring that the final product provides a
positive message not only about your company, but about you.

The first place I would recommend you investigate would be Elance
(http://www.elance.com).  You create a project, or request for bid,
and place it within the specific category on their website. You can be
as specific as you like, including the request that the company be
based in New York City.  At that point, companies and individuals will
bid on your project, letting you know exactly how much they will
charge for the job based upon your bid specifications.  They will
provide a portfolio of work and you can request references as well. 
This process allows you to see a wide variety of styles of work as
well as get several competing bids for your business.
