I recently migrated to XP -- I don't know if this is related -- but my
Excel worksheet will not exapnd to fit into the full potential size of
the window. Instead, the toolbars span the usual full distance of the
window, but the window of the worksheet itself is "tiled" and only
takes up about 1/2 of the full potential space. I have not been able
to grab the sides of the window to expand the size, nor is there a
button that allows me to 'maximize' the size of the window. How can I
oversome this problem?

Greetings prpro-ga!

First, I would like to say that due to the nature of computer
problems, it might take a few exchanges between us for me to fix your
problem. I just want to let you know that I will help you with your
problem until you are satisfied with the answer. You can request
additional clarification through the "Clarify Answer" button.

Now, that being said, the most common solution to your problem depends
on whether you've created the Excel Workbook (.xls file) you are
having problems with. The author of a workbook can protect the
worksheet window through the Tools menu, Protect and Protect workbook
menu item. If the author chose to protect the workbook window, all
resizing, moving as well as minimizing/maximizing/close buttons will
disappear and thus preventing you from being able to manipulate the
worksheet window.

To determine if your current workbook is protected, try going to the
Tools menu, Protect, and see if there a menu item labeled "Unprotect
Workbook".

If there is a menu item called "Unprotect Workbook", then the workbook
is protected and you'll need to click on Tools menu, Protect,
Unprotect Workbook menu item in order to resize the worksheet window
again. Note: The author of the workbook *may* have chosen to protect
the workbook from being resized/moved with a password. In this case,
you will have to contact the author of the workbook for the password.

If there is no menu item in that menu called "Unprotect Workbook" but
there is a menu item called "Protect Workbook", then the problem may
be caused by something else. In this case, my first suggestion is to
try clicking on the Window menu, selecting Arrange and choosing
Arranged Tiled and checking "Windows of active workbook". Since the
workbook is not protected, this will move/resize the current worksheet
window to fit the size of the Excel application.

If neither of those suggestions above work, please let me know through
"Clarify Answer".

Good luck,
mrbuzz-ga

Just realized I forgot to include my search strategy. No actual
searching was conducted; the above is entirely based upon personal
