I've a D:\watched directory on the Mircosoft 2000serverPro box I've
started administering. Batch files starting ghostserver are copied to
this directory, executed, and deleted. I note a gh_watch.exe in the
task manager.

Where is the documentation describing how to configure and
troubleshoot the watched directory and its associated processes.

"ghost server" = Norton Ghost ?

It used to be Norton.  Now its Symantec Ghost, 7.0
