How do I force Google to do an update on a file. I have changed a new
power point presentation place it on the server, and Google is still
using
an HTML (it created) that is still a version of the old powerpoint. I
want it to reflect the new one ASAP.
Thanks

Hi Plow,

I'm afraid that the short answer to the question of how to force
Google to do an update is "You can't."

Here's why:

"1. My information is outdated.

When you update information on your site it does not automatically
update instantly in Google's index. Rather, Google's index is updated
approximately once a month after our robots have crawled more than 2
billion web pages. This process is totally automated, so updated or
outdated link submissions are not necessary. Changes to your site's
content will be noted by the next crawl. Due to the volume of sites in
our index, we cannot manually update pages on an individual basis."

To ensure that your listing is correct for the next index, be certain
that the Googlebot can find it the next time it crawls the web. Given
that the last update started on September 26th, the next one should be
starting any day now:

"The best time to put new pages online is during the Google-Dance. If
you let too much time lapse between the completion of the update, and
the publication of new content, you may reduce the amount of new
content that will be included in the next update."

If you've changed the content of your presentation, but not your URL,
visitors clicking the direct URL wil be taken to the current version
of your presentation. The old version will remain in Google's cache
until the next update, but that shouldn't affect the ability of your
visitors to see the most current version. In the meantime, just hang
in there. The next update should be starting soon, and the Google
listing should reflect your new content when the update finishes.

I hope this has been helpful for you! If I can be of further
assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.
