The European Grand Tour to be more precise. I'm hoping for someone
like Lord Byron, Keats, Dickens or the like who happened to pass
through San Marino and who also commented on this country.

I have found one description by a 19th century English traveller.
Would this satisfy you as an answer?

Depends on who he is because if it's Joseph Addison than I know of him
already. I would need some other important English authors such as one
of the ones already mentioned.
