Hello... I have a simple question regarding past searches. Every time
I look
for something, past search words come up. For instance, if a month
ago i searched for igloos, and today i look for iguanas, as soon as i
type the letter "i", the word igloo comes up, even though i'm looking
for iguana. All I want to know is how i can delete or erase all words
from past searches...I have internet explorer, but even when i clear
the history, this problem still happens. How do I get rid of past
search words so that if I type a letter, I don't get a bunch of topics
that I've searched for before? And what is this "list" commonly
referred to as? This problem arises whether I use searches on Google,
yahoo, lycos, etc...thank you.

That is annoying, isn't it?

What's happening is that after you clear the history, IE starts
recording it all over again.

You need to do two things. First, as you have done before, clear your
history. You may also want to set history at zero days at that point.
This will stop IE from keeping the address bar history. For more on
this, see:

http://www.internet-handbooks.co.uk/izone/browsers/IE/history.htm

Here's the best part. This will stop the automatic fill-in that's
plaguing you.
1. Go into "Tools" in the browser toolbar (or hold down the "Alt"
button and hit the letter "t".
2. Click on "Internet Options".
3. Click on "Content".
4. Under "Personal Information" click on "Autocomplete".
5. Now clear out the checked boxes where you don't want Internet
Explorer to fill in boxes for you (uncheck the "Web Addresses" box,
for example.) At this point you can also clear out Internet
Explorer's histories of web forms and passwords if you want, too.
For more on this, use IE's help feature--choose "Contents and Index"
and type "autocomplete" into the keyword box.

This should take care of things. If not, let us know via a comment.

I wish you well.
