Dear photoboyja-ga;
Apparently you are not alone in your interest for information about
this particular piece of music. While doing the research for you, I
discovered that the Internet is littered with bulletin boards,
messages and forums where the curious have posted the same question.
The mysterym however, is now solved and you can all relax. Here is the
answer to your question:
The music you are referring to at the end of the motion picture,
Vanilla Sky is entitled Njósnavélin (The Nothing Song), written
and performed by a group from Iceland called Sigur Rós.
Screenwriter/producer/director Cameron Crowe was looking for a special
song to use at the end of his upcoming movie, Vanilla Sky, when he
happened to see Sigur Rós perform in Los Angeles. He immediately knew,
when he heard the song Njósnavélin, that he simply had to have it
for the movies big finish. Because the band had not yet recorded the
song, he had to obtain permission from the band to use a bootleg
copy of a live performance, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Initially, the unrecorded song was very hard to find, but you can now
find the song Njósnavélin (alternatively entitled The Nothing
Song) on some Vanilla Sky soundtrack releases.
I hope my research proves useful to you
Best regards;
