Greetings photoboyja!
I believe the guitar solo you are looking for is by Nathan Larson. He
was responsible for the original music in the film. In addition to
the Bluest Eyes song you mentioned, the Dustless Highway instrumental
song that appears on the soundtrack is also by him. You can listen to
a short excerpt of the song (in Real Audio and Windows Media format)
on the CD NOW site:

Several sites mention this track:
"...Larson also contributes the transitional instrumental 'Dustless
Highway'":

"Larson, who did the movie's score, nevertheless appears on two
tracks: the hard-driving instrumental 'Dustless Highway' and 'The
Bluest Eyes in Texas'..."

(Larson also did the version of the Cure's "Boys Don't Cry" that
appears in the film. However, that track does not appear on the
soundtrack.)
Larson writes that the film Boys Don't Cry is...
"...the first one I did all on my lonesome: a tough one for me as my
first outing, but the final result I daresay is pretty brilliant and I
love director Kim Pierce to death. I did most of it on pretty crappy
equipment, and I had one guitar, one amp, and a keyboard. The film as
most of u know is based on a true story: I took a song that was a
favorite of the real-life Lana called BLUEST EYES IN TEXAS and made
it a theme of sorts that runs throughout the film. My wife sings."

If the piece of music you are seeking is not Dustless Highway, then it
is likely a short original score piece that does not appear on the
soundtrack (or elsewhere). You may want to try contacting Larson for
