I would like to hear from any French or British navy personnel who
served in Alexandria under admirals Andrew B. Cunningham or René
Godfroy between 1940 and 1943 (Force X). Any related info welcome. The
ships' names were "Warspite", Duquesne, Duguay-Trouin, Lorraine,
Bretagne, Tourville, etc..

giolais,

Your odds of these people stumbling across Google Answers and seeing
your request is probably not high. However, Researchers can point you
to any webpages or other resources they find on the web that might
include contact information for such people. Would this be an
acceptable Answer for you?

Yes, it would definitely help to know about web pages related, albeit
remotely, to that period, those ships and those people. I realise that
those who were the youngest at the time (17) are know 79, but their
children or relatives may also know facts of interest to me. I am
writing a book on the Alexandria episode subsequent to the French
armistice and the very unusual situation that occurred in Alexandria
between the British and the French admirals. Vice-Admiral René GODFROY
was my great-uncle.
Thanks

giolais,

I was amazed to actually find a **wealth** that may be helpful to you
in your search. However, the amount of time required to search through
these for more specific information, especially because you know much
better than I would what sorts of information would be helpful to you,
would make it outside the scope of this question at this price.
Therefore, I will post some of the links that I found as a
Clarification, so that you may follow up on them if you wish.
