We sell classical CDs through Amazon.com and wish to sell them through
the other regional Amazon sites as well. Amazon.com has a program
called Advantage which allows CD publishers to add titles and maintain
their account online.

Which of the other regional Amazon sites uses a similar online system
and where can we go to sign up? For those regional Amazon sites that
don't have an equivalent Advantage program, how can we have our
classical CDs considered for inclusion? Which distributors do they
use?

We're particularly interested in Amazon France and Germany.

Hello diva1-ga,

I’m afraid that the local Amazon sites do not have such as
sophisticated arrangement as the Advantage system on Amazon.com. Here
is the information I have found about how to sell CDs through Amazon
in other countries:

Amazon.co.uk To get into the catalogue, the title must be listed in
Pinnacle/Windsong and must have a bar code
“Content refers to the information on an Amazon.co.uk Detail Page
beyond the basic bibliographic information. As a label/artist you have
the opportunity to hand-sell your music title to customers by adding
content such as a compelling description, tracklistings, rave reviews
and more. Coverscans, an artist interview and tracklistings are also
great ways to add content to your page. For more information see
Enhancing your Listings Detail Page by Adding Persuasive Content
section of our Catalogue Guide.” However, these remain
“special-order” items with a delivery time of 4-6 weeks.

Pinnacle is the UK's biggest independent distributor General
information is available at:
http://www.pinnacle-entertainment.co.uk/aboutus.php, and enquiries
about registration should be sent to info@pinnacle-records.co.uk

Contact information for Windsong:
Windsong International
Electron House
Cray Avenue
St Mary Cray
Orpington
Kent BR5 3RJ
e-mail enquiries www.windsong.co.uk
The web site is at http://www.windsong.co.uk/, but it only provides
minimal information.

Germany: Amazon.de According to information on the web site, the
easiest way to be listed in the catalog is to have your titles listed
with a system such as PhonoNet or Cashkit Media Pool. A contact
telephone number to find out more about these is supplied: 02845 / 29
12 0 (presumably a German number). To find out about the
possibilities of listing a title directly with Amazon.de, you need to
subscribe to their mailing list, by sending an e-mail to
majordomo@amazon.de with "subscribe de-musik-info" in the message
body.

Again, you have the possibly to add content to the basic
bibliographical description provided by Amazon.

PhonoNet is at http://phononet.de/ info@phononet.de
Cashkit is at http://www.cashkit.de/ On the web site, click on
Produkte in order to get to a link for Media Pool

Amazon.fr (France) and Amazon.ca (Canada) do not have any information
at all about selling new (or secondhand) items through their sites.

However, the Canadian site is served through the US site according to
information at http://www.ecommercetimes.com/perl/story/9407.html#story-start

Amazon France claims that its catalog includes records for 300,000
music titles imported from UK and USA. It is possible, therefore,
that it includes the catalog contents from the US and UK Amazon sites.

If you wish to pursue enquiries with the Marketing Division of Amazon
France, the address is (no email address supplied on the web site):
Amazon.com Int'l Sales, Inc.
aux bons soins de Amazon.fr SARL
Parc Ariane, Immeuble Vénus
2, rue Hélène Boucher
78280 Guyancourt
France

Amazon Austria appears to be a subsidiary of Amazon.de

I’m afraid I am unable to find the relevant information on Amazon.jp
as I do not read Japanese.

Apologies, I was incorrect about Amazon Canada. I have now found the
information you need from Amazon.ca Catalogue Guide

"At Amazon.ca, we're proud to offer studios the opportunity to list
new titles in our catalogue. Please note that your titles must meet
the following criteria in order for them to be eligible for listing
with Amazon.ca:
Your title must possess a valid UPC.
Your title must be available from a CA-based distributor from whom we
can source the titles. Please make sure your titles are registered
with one of the distributors from whom we receive regular updates.
Here's a list of distributors with whom we currently work:
Pindoff Record Sales
Video One"

largest distributor of home entertainment products, including VHS and
DVD software, video games and related hardware and accessory
products."

I've been thinking about the Amazon France part of your question off
and on for much of the day. Amazon.fr do say they supply ALL recorded
music distributed in France, plus the 300,000 UK and US imports. I
know that Harmonia Mundi is supposed to be the largest independent
classical music distributor for France, and that they distribute a
number of labels as well as their own. They have web sites in a
number of countries, with the common gateway at
http://harmoniamundi.com/
