What "well known" port number does Quicken use to communicate with their OnLine Bill Payment service? I must pass through a proxy server (I have the server name)to reach the internet and I need to know the correct well known port number.

Hi smtodsen, Quicken 2001 connects to online banking over the same port as your webbrowser. It just uses slightly different commands and URL's to do what it does. However, if you are behind a firewall and/or using a proxy server, there are some problems that you may run into. Quicken has an FAQ for this situation at: http://www.intuit.com/support/quicken/2001/win/6119.html Basically, Quicken uses SSL to communicate with the banks. SSL runs over port 443: however, some proxy servers do not tunnel this port correctly. If your computer is behind a proxy that does not handle SSL correctly, you will need to DISABLE the proxy connection by following the directions on the link I've provided above. I hope this answers your question. Please ask for clarification prior to rating this answer. Legolas-ga
