Hi Bunhead
That is an enormous request. There are hundreds of thousands of
scholarships available world wide and out of that, thousands which
would apply to what you are seeking. So a full answer to that
question which would list what you are wanting would be several
hundred pages long and I really don't know what the maximum length of
an answer can be in here :)
Even scholarships devoted to "humanities-arts-community-personal
development core study areas" run into the thousands.
I can provide you access to information on over 600,000 scholarships
on a world wide basis. Would that be acceptable?

One addition to the above which might make a difference. The
information would require a "free" registration to access the
information. Such a registration would also allow various
universities and colleges to contact you as well as you contacting
them. Some schools may send unsolicited information. However, all
schools involved with the service are accredited, there are no
fly-by-nights.

Dear digsalot,
Perhaps digging to China is not the answer.
This request refers to a young man (family member), 35 yrs old, who
after traveling about the world, licensed as English as a Second
Language and Massage therapist, but with only high school diploma, saw
the light of further education - and is now enrolled in freshman year
of New School in San Francisco. He has gotten tuition loans through
school, but working full time and going to school is extreme.
Being an unusual, committed, humanistic bright light, who presently
has no time to search 600,000 scholarship funds because of all the
papers to write, etc. -
I am trying to help him in the search process but don't know where to
start.
SO if you could send me at least the links to 2 funds that specialize
is scholarships for poor, adult, working students (male), in
humanities -community development area - and maybe 1 link to wider
research vehicles - I'll be content
with this endeavor! Thank you, Mr. mole.

I'm keeping my search in the northern California area due to the
information in your post. As far as scholarships for adults, I am
running into scholarships mostly for teaching and post grad work in
the humanities. The specific area of "community development" is still
leading to a blank except for post grad work. Of course there are
many scholarships being granted for those just leaving high school.
If I widen the search to include humanities in general, then the range
is wide open but that included everything from history to the arts.
Would you be interested in learning about some of these? My own
experience was to start with a scholarship in history and then later I
switched to anthropology at the end of my sophomore year. There seem
to be more specialized scholarships available for those who are
further along in their college careers.

Do you have a geographic limit in mind? Does it have to be in the San
Francisco area? California? US? Many scholarships have very unusual
combinations of qualifying factors so any additional information
(ethnicity, national origin, religion, membership in associations or
organizations, etc.) you can give would help. With additional filters
we might find something.
