Are you certain this is the title of the book? Can you provide any
other information such as author name, what it was about, approximate
year it was written? Any additional information you can give will help
us locate it for you. Thanks.

I am certain that the title contains the words MONSTER, BLUE LAGOON.
It is not "The Creature from the Black Lagoon". It was read during the
1960's and early 1970's. I am also certain that it is a children's
book. I will try to find out what it was about.

The book mentioned by infogurl-ga was written in 1947. Does that
sound like a possibility? It doesn't look like it was directed at a
juvenile audience though. My next question is when you say
"children's," any idea if this was a picture book, a chapter
book--that is the age this was geared toward? Thanks.

It is a picture book. The characters think that there is a monster
but, in fact, it ends up to be something with a hat on walking through
the lagoon. I have not seen or read the book so all of this is second
hand. (Including the title, although the person is certain of the
title.)

Are you sure it wasn't "Monster of the Lagoon" by George F Worts (a Starmont book)?

It might be. It would have been read to children. Do you have any
ideas how to locate "Monster from the Lagoon"? so that I can determine
if this is the correct book?

I suspect that this is not it since it does not appear to be something
that you would read to small children, but I will ask about it. I
think that it is a short children's book.

I think I read this book when I was little, as well - during a
"monster" phase - in the 1970s. Unfortunately, I can't remember
anything else about it except a green-and-white illustration of the
hat in the water. I think it was a "J reader" book (like Seuss). Did
it have to do with Loch Ness? It's difficult when it comes down 2nd
hand...

Yes! It did have something to do with a hat. What is a 'J' book?

I suspect by "J" book infogurl-ga means a juvenile book, that is a
book geared toward children. I've searched WorldCat backwards and
sideways for this one and no luck at all. Sorry.
