I want to know what the URL is to connect directly to the RealAudio
stream for the FIP station on the Radio France site. This is so that I
can start it up directly from my desktop rather than faffing around
clicking through various options first.

What I do at the moment is load the page
http://www.radiofrance.fr/chaines/fip/direct/, then click on the
"écouter le direct" link, which brings up a small window where I
choose the RealAudio option, which then starts up the radio station
for me.

Now, I simply want to start up the FIP station directly - in other
words, double-clicking on a shortcut on my desktop starts FIP using
RealAudio. I don't want to be told how to create a shortcut - I know
that already. All I want is some clever person to work out what the
URL is and post it as the answer.

I've briefly looked at the source for that small window which allows
one to choose which streaming software to use, but there's too much
JavaScript around for me to easily work out what the actual URL is.

Thanks in advance,

iffy

Greetings iffy-ga!

I believe the URL you are looking for is:

http://www.tv-radio.com/cgi-bin/tagger.pl?tag=site&metafile=fip/fip-20k.ram

I put this URL into my RealPlayer location field and it started
playing the live stream without any troubles.

If this URL doesn't work or isn't what you are looking for, please
indicate the version of RealPlayer you are using, which operating
system you are using it on, and your connection speed (i.e. dsl, 56K
dial-up, etc.)

I hope this information is helpful. If you would like for me to
clarify any part of my answer or further research your question,
please let me know before issuing a rating. Thanks!

Also, in terms of search strategy used, I used mainly used my
browser's Find command. A good thing to remember that is the Find
command works not only on web pages but also when looking at the HTML
source.

So after loading up the stream from their site, I viewed the HTML
source for their player window. I then did a Find for .rm (a common
Real Player extension) and didn't find anything. But I did find
something when I did a Find on .ram . There are some other
extensions used by Real Audio but in this case the site uses .ram.

http://cache.yacast.fr/V4/fip/fip.asx

An other link that works in Ogg Vorbis (use Xmms under linux)
