Saw this short in school 1976 or '77. I thought the title was "Anna". There were only three characters. It was a "Twilight Zone" type story. The man & woman who are settlers/pioneers or just living alone in a log cabin in the middle of the woods. The third character is a mountain lion. There is no dialog from what I remember, till the end and just the word "Anna". The couple goes about their daily chores occasionally hearing the mountain lion's howl in the distance. Eventually the wife dies (can't remember why) The husband prepares her for burial. He washes her and dresses her and lays her on the dining room table. Middle of the night he hears something in the kitchen, his gun goes off and in the flash of light from the shot is the bizarre ending (don't want to ruin it, but can clarify it if needed.) For some reason it seemed this was made in Germany. | |

I meant to say Ambrose Bierce, and the story's name was "The Boarded Window." Does this sound like the story that you're talking about? http://www.storybites.com/biercewindow.htm |

Thanks secret901-ga! This is the correct story. I found this info: The Boarded Window, by Alan W. Beattie, color short, 1973 The Boarded Window, by Alan W. Beattie, color short, International Instructional Television Cooperative video release, 1978 http://www.biercephile.com/movie.html This would match the time I watched it in school. Now to find a place to buy it. |
