I am currently a sophomore in college, and I am drowning in course
work trying to prepare for a transfer in Fall 03. I need serious help
finding universities/colleges throughout the US with my major and
minor, because I just dont have enough time to sit down and do the
research. Its getting soooo late and if I dont start applying soon, I
may not have a good chance at getting into a decent university.
I am an Entrepreneurship major with a minor in Hospitality and
Tourism. I would like a list of universities in the US that offer my
major and minor (the minor may also be listed as Hospitality
Management or something to that affect) (for entrepreneurship.. it may
also be listed as Entrepreneurial Studies, or Management w/ a
concentration in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial studies, etc). If
none can be found, or only a select few (w/ the major and minor), I
would appreciate a list of all universities that offer
Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies/Mangement w/ concentration in
ENT as a MAJOR. PLEASE ask for clarification if you do not understand
what I am looking for/asking. I seriously need a list of AS MANY
SCHOOLS AS POSSIBLE (ie: please dont give me a list of just 10
schools). I am not sure where I will have to relocate to so I really
need an extensive list. I will likely remain in the Eastern part of
the US, but a list of all over the US will be appreciated as I have no
idea where I will be moving. I believe this shouldnt be TOO hard, but
I just dont have the time to do the research right now. I will be
SOOOOOOOOOOO thankful if someone would please help me!!!

Hello gnasmi-ga,

I have found a website with a comprehensive colleges database and an
Advanced Search tool that will locate the colleges you are looking
for. It is as easy as selecting "Majors offered" (you would enter your
Major and Minor) from a dropdown list, and since this is a very
recognized publication (something like Time magazine), there is no way
you can go wrong. The tool will also search and filter along other
criteria as follows :

• Location • Distance from home
• Campus setting • Cost
• Size • Selectivity
• Majors offered • Student/faculty ratio
• Academic programs • Single-sex vs. coed
• Religious affiliation • Diversity
• Extracurriculars • Varsity sports

If it is acceptable to you, I will post the URL of this website tool
to you as an Answer. What do you think?

Thanks,

kyrie26-ga

I forgot to mention, it will cost you $9.95 to subscribe to this search tool.

If I wanted to do the research, and pay to do it, I would have already
done that without coming to google answers. The reason I made this
question was to be able to receive a list of universities in my major.
Therefore what you are offering me does not answer my question. I'm
not really up for paying someone to give me a link to some other site
that I have to pay as well, in order to find what I am looking for; I
dont have that kind of money or time; I'm sorry. Thank you for
offering and thank you for asking for clarification, however your
potential answer will not be an acceptable answer to my question.

Hello,
Here is a list of U.S. colleges that offer both an entrepreneurship
major and a hospitality major. (I could not find a database that
listed minors offered, but would assume any college that offers a
hospitality major will also offer a minor.) This list was compiled by
cross referencing schools offering entrepreneurship majors with those
that offer hospitality/travel industry majors. Both lists are
available at http://businessmajors.about.com.

I also cross-reference lists by major from Petersons.com, a
comprehensive site that lets you search for colleges by parameters of
your choosing, including college major. Here's the short list of
colleges where you could study both entrepreneurship and hospitality:

Florida State University College of Business
Tallahassee Florida.

Hawaii Pacific University Business School
Honolulu, Hawaii.

San Francisco State University College of Business
San Francisco, California

Syracuse University School of Management
Syracuse, New York.

Washington State University College of Business & Economics
Pullman, Washington.

Concord College
Athens, West Virgina

Endicott College
Beverly, Massachusetts

Additional links:

Since this is not a lengthy list, you may want to see the complete
list of colleges offering a bachelor's degree in entrepreneurial
studies or entrepreneurship. You can find it here:
http://businessmajors.about.com/cs/entrepmajor/. A list of colleges
offering majors in travel industry/hospitality management can be found
at http://businessmajors.about.com/cs/travelmajor/index.htm?terms=hospitality.

You can also learn more about these colleges at
http:www.petersons.com. Unfortunately, Petersons does not list
"entrepreneurial studies" as a major, but if you are interested in
learning more about specific colleges from the list above, you can
obtain a good overview on actors such as: tuition, size, religion,
sports, majors, etc.

Search Strategy:
Google search term: college search major entrepreneurial studies
://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=college+search+major+entrepreneurial+studies

Also, I searched Petersons, which I was already familiar with.

Good luck!

I had said that if the list was rather short, I would appreciate it if
you could also include a list of schools that just offer ENT as a
major.. or the equiv. (ie Management w/ concentration in ENT). I
would appreciate that to complete the answer. Thanks

I'm rather surprised that the list you got doesnt include some of the
schools that I've been told have ENT, including the university I
currently attend.
(universities/colleges including Babson College, Depaul University,
Chatham, Western Carolina University..) Thanks for the lists. I
guess this work, but Im sure that I'll have to do additional work
because the list is rather incomplete.

As you are aware, there are thousands of colleges in the U.S., and the
lists and databases are only as good as the info available and the
people who compile them. So no list will be perfect. My goal was to
attempt to find you a list that was as complete and authoritative as
possible.

For example, in my initial search I did a search for "entrepreneurial
studies" on www.Petersons.com, which is a very reputable database on
U.S. colleges. In that search, I did come across several colleges not
on the list I provided you. The reason I did not include them was
because there was no way to tell if those schools offered a major in
that topic unless I visited each school's site, which would be
prohibitively time-consuming. Although I can’t confirm that these
schools offer a “major” in entrepreneurial studies, I am happy to
provide you with this list of the best matches for the query on
“entrepreneurial studies” from Petersons: (You can print out the
complete list at http://www.petersons.com/fts/smplrslt.asp?anyQuery=entrepreneurship&volume=UG&reprjId=12&sponsor=1&cPage=1)

Paul Smith's College of Arts and Sciences
Paul Smiths, NY

University of Dayton
Dayton, Ohio

Christopher Newport University
Newport News, VA

Seton Hill University
Greensburg, PA

Washington & Jefferson College
Washington, PA

State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at
Morrisville
Morrisville, NY

University of Colorado at Boulder
Boulder, CO

Concord College
Athens, WV

Chatham College
Pittsburgh, PA

I also did a search under “enterpreneurship” at Petersons. Here are
the top 10 matches for that search term. Again, I did not confirm
that the search term refers specifically to a degree program. If you
want to print out the complete list, go to:
http://www.petersons.com/fts/smplrslt.asp?anyQuery=entrepreneurship&volume=UG&reprjId=12&sponsor=1&cPage=1

Johnson & Wales University
Providence, RI

Lyndon State College
Lyndonville, Vermont

University of St. Thomas
St. Paul, MN

Mountain State University
Beckley, WV

Babson College
Babson Park, MA

Sierra Nevada College
Incline Village, Nevada

Canisius College
Buffalo, NY

Baylor University
Waco, TX

University of the Incarnate Word
San Antonio, TX

Stevens Institute of Technology
Hoboken, NJ

A few others from that list include: Depaul University, University of
Vermont, University of Houston, University of Oregon, Temple
University, but no Western Carolina.

This ought to give you plenty of choices! Happy hunting.

Thanks for your help. I didnt give you a five because I guess I was
expecting more from this service, but maybe I shouldnt have. I dont
know if I offered to little, or what... because this is my first time
using google answers. Unfortunately the list was compiled of schools
I'm already aware of, and thought I might be successful in finding
others through such a services. There are some that will be helpful
in the decision making process of my transfer, so I thank you for your
time.
